  • Snowy mountains, stretching beyond the horizon, piercing the blue sky and thousands of hot springs here and there, spouting straight from the rocks. The mountains are so white that they seem to be soft like snow. This is a rare natural phenomenon that is called  a travertine. The place, beloved by the legendary Egyptian queen Cleopatra, Pamukkale represents a set of travertines, which are located in one of the most beautiful places in Turkey. There are so many springs of mineral water in Pamukkale, which flow directly on the rocks, that they create a unique microclimate. The water here varies in temperature - from almost unbearably hot water to icy. As the result, it is hard to find anywhere else such a combination of temperature, invaluable to the health, except in Pamukkale. Of course, there is a pool. A huge basin bowl, bordered by scattered trees, carries back to the luxurious palaces of ancient Egypt. This pool was opened in Pamukkale by Cleopatra... But, of course, travertines and pools are not the only advantages of Pamukkale. Here, in a few steps away from the mountains, there is the largest ancient cemetery of all survived in the world . This is Hierapolis - thousands of Greek, Roman, Byzantine gravestones... Among them there is the tomb of Saint Philip the Apostle! Besides, you'll see one of the richest libraries of the ancient Rome - with shelves for scrolls, but not modern books - and the gates ,built in  thehonor of the arrival of Roman emperors.
